Last week, Quantopian shut down its quant trading community platform, and it seems to have come as a bit of a shock. Quantopian, a provider of capital, data, and infrastructure for quants to research code, test, and trade algorithmic strategies, formally announced its intent to join Robinhood, a retail trading Quantopian Enterprise covers 44 markets around the globe, which includes all of the ACWI developed countries and most of the ACWI emerging markets. Each of these markets has pricing, fundamentals, estimates, and other FactSet datasets. Quantopian Enterprise has FX rate data for the listing currency for all the equities in these 44 markets. Quantopian aimed to create a crowd-sourced hedge fund by letting freelance quantitative analysts develop, test, and use trading algorithms to buy and sell securities. [2] [3] [4] In November 2020, Quantopian announced it will shut down and join Robinhood . I have tried both Quantiacs and Quantopian — and Quantiacs is by far the best.
